ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose wrapped up its regular-season campaign on a high note with tonight's 2-1 Northeast-10 Conference triumph against visiting New Haven. The Golden Knights (14-2-1/10-2-1 NE10), ranked #11 in this week's United Soccer Coaches National poll, overcame an early 1-0 deficit and manufactured a 22-8 shot advantage while twice rattling the crossbar.
Â
Saint Rose has thus secured the top-seed in the upcoming NE10 Championship Tournament that gets underway Sunday at home sites. The Golden Knights, who will be seeking their eighth conference postseason title, will host eighth-seed Pace University in a 1:00 pm quarterfinal match. Saint Rose upended the then #24 Setters 2-1, in double overtime in Albany back on September 24.
Â
As for tonight, senior forward
Nina Predanic set up both Saint Rose strikes. Freshman forward
Olivia Boucher tied it with her tenth goal of the year at the 18:42 mark when she drove home Predanic's initial deflected shot four minutes after the Chargers (4-11-2/3-9-1 NE10) had gone ahead. Senior forward
Caitlyn Dabagian then collected a Predanic pass, dribbled up the left flank and fired a shot from 15-yards out inside the right post with 33:03 expired.
New Haven broke through first when forward Maaike Rahms, a graduate student, one-touched a feed off the left flank from junior forward Samantha Roth.
Â
In goal, junior keeper
Marika Laurendeau recorded four of her five saves throughout the second half. Junior Paige Davis was forced to turn aside nine threats-on-target at the other end for the Chargers.
