SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose closed its season with today's 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference loss at Upstate Challenge rival Le Moyne. The Golden Knights (11-17/4-9 NE10) fell by scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-14 and 25-23.
Senior outside hitter
Stevie Schweitzer recorded 14 kills to lead all players. She elevated 19 Le Moyne attacks for her 11th double-double of the fall. Junior middle hitter
Kyla Archie, the NE10 blocking leader, contributed ten kills on .207 hitting and six total blocks, while senior libero
Tina Ceriello, who paces the conference in digs and digs per set, topped all participants with 22 digs.
A few Saint Rose freshmen capped their rookie campaigns with strong performances. Setter
Valeria Jorge registered 21 assists, seven digs and four total blocks, while fellow setter
Allison Sellers dished out 17 helpers. Freshman outside hitter
Elizabeth Johnson added nine kills on .273 hitting.
A trio of Le Moyne (14-12/7-6 NE10) players reached double-digit kill totals in the win. Freshman outside hitter Madeleine Kennedy led the way with 14 kills. Junior setter Emily Yanconne recorded a double-double of 38 assists and 14 digs, while senior libero Claire Hiwiller registered 22 digs.
After splitting the first two sets, the hosts tallied 11 of the first 15 third period points to gain control of the contest. Down 2-1, the Black and Gold continued to work in an attempt to force a decisive fifth set, knotting the fourth stanza at 20. Anna Maggiolo, forced a timeout from the Dolphins. Kennedy put down her 14th kill of the day on the next point to end it.
