MANCHESTER, N.H. - The College of Saint Rose fell 70-45 at Southern New Hampshire tonight. Junior guard
Courtney Clasen led the Golden Knights (10-8/3-8 NE10) with 12 points.
Southern New Hampshire (11-7/5-6 NE10), which made 13 three-pointers in the Northeast-10 Conference game, had four players in twin figures. Senior forward Kylie Lorenzen led the way with a "double-double" of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Karlee Ziliak also had 15 points for the Penmen, who improved to 9-2 at home.
After an tightly-contested start, Southern New Hampshire began the second period with an 18-8 run to open up a double-digit lead. The Penmen, which went 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in the stanza, outscored the Golden Knights 21-12 in the period to grab ia 36-24 halftime lead. The hosts then netted the first nine points after the break to increase control.
Saint Rose made things interesting though, trimming the deficit to 10, 50-40, with 8:15 left. Southern New Hampshire responded with an 10-0 outburst across the next 3:22 to double its advantage. The jaunt was part of a 20-2 Penmen run that removed all doubt.
NE10 play continues on Saturday at 1:30 pm. Saint Rose travels to Worcester, Mass. to play Assumption. Fans that are that are unable to attend the game can follow all the action live on
