GOLDEN KNIGHTS SUFFER FIRST LOSS

COLCHESTER, Vt.-The College of Saint Rose suffered just its first loss of the year with today's 1-0 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's.

Junior forward Jacob von Giebel provided the difference for the Purple Knights (3-4-1/2-2-1 NE10) who are now unbeaten throughout their last three matches after having dropped the previous two. Von Giebel struck in the 59th minute when he drove a shot from the top of the area under the crossbar for his sixth goal of the year.

Saint Michael's engineered a slight 14-13 shot advantage and the threats on target were even at four apiece. Junior keeper Gianni Carillo made three saves for the Golden Knights (6-1-1/3-1-1 NE10), while sophomore Leland Gazo registered four stops at the other end.

Freshman midfielder Filippo Bellú recorded two shots-on-goal for Saint Rose, while senior forward Kyle Clemens and sophomore midfielder Oskar Aaströem accounted for the other pair.

Looking ahead, both teams have conference matches Saturday. The Golden Knights host Stonehill at 4:00 pm, while the Purple Knights head to Waltham, Mass. to take on Bentley at 1:00 pm.
