ALBANY, N.Y.-The College of Saint Rose helped celebrate the 2011 National Championship Team's induction into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame today by upending visiting Bentley 1-0.
Â
Junior forward
Nina Predanic scored her league leading 10
th goal of the year to provide the difference as the Golden Knights (9-2-1/7-2-0 NE10) recorded their fourth consecutive shutout to extend their win streak to seven matches.
Â
Meanwhile, junior keeper
Marika Laurendeau came up with a pair of saves while quarterbacking the defensive unit of freshman
Viviana Sebastiano, junior
Nia Brown, and sophomores
Luisa Gaudl and
Samantha Matthews. The group stood tall in the face of a Falcons side (3-4-3/2-4-2 NE10) that arrived in the Capital Region off Tuesday's 2-1 victory against ninth ranked Franklin Pierce.
Â
Predanic and fellow junior forward
Morgan Burchhardt executed a nifty give and go on the right flank to develop the lone strike. Predanic found Burchhardt on the outside, who one-touched a feed across the area that Predanic one-timed into the back of the net.
Â
Bentley had its chances and developed a 12-8 shot advantage as senior midfielder Brandi McDonald drove a shot off the post in the opening three minutes of the second half. However, that proved to only foreshadow the eventual outcome.
Â
Looking ahead, both sides have 7:00 pm conference road matches Wednesday. Saint Rose heads to Rindge, N.H. to take on none other than Franklin Pierce, while Bentley travels to Manchester, N.H. to face Southern New Hampshire.
