GOLDEN KNIGHTS WIN FOURTH-STRAIGHT

Three Players Record 12+ Kills


ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team hit .301 in this afternoon's 3-1 home win vs. Assumption. The Golden Knights (15-8/6-3 NE10), which had three players with a dozen or more kills, picked up their fourth-straight victory by scores of 25-20, 25-10, 22-25, 25-18.

Senior middle hitter Shayna Webber led the way with 16 kills on .433 hitting. The NE10 leader in blocks per set returned five Assumption attacks this afternoon. Junior outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer tallied 15 kills on .314 hitting and 12 digs for her seventh "double-double" of the fall. Sophomore middle hitter Kyla Archie added 12 kills on .417 hitting and four blocks. Senior setter Sam Kubik distributed a season-high 46 assists, while junior libero Tina Ceriello, the reigning NE10 Libero of the Week, totaled 26 digs.
 
Assumption (3-14/3-8 NE10) received nine kills from freshman middle hitter Alana Hruska. Freshman libero Alexandra Krawczyk registered 17 digs, while the setting duo of freshman Laine Peterson (17) and senior Kelly Dorandi (12) combined for 29 assists.

After hitting .387 to take the opening set, the Golden Knights got out to a 21-7 advantage to cruise in the second. The Greyhounds, which hit just .029 on the day, opened up a pair of seven-point leads in the third period. Saint Rose responded to cut the deficit to one at 23-22. However, the visitors secured the next two points to extend the match. The fourth set was knotted at 16 before the Golden Knights went on a 6-0 run to improve to 9-2 at home.

NE10 play continues on Tuesday night. The Golden Knights will travel to Springfield, Mass. to face American International at 7:00 pm. Meanwhile, Assumption will host its "Senior Night" match vs. Bentley.

Notes: The Golden Knights have recorded NE10-bests of 194 total blocks and 2.30 blocks per set…Webber tops the conference with 1.20 blocks per set, while Archie (1.05) ranks third in the category…Ceriello who was named the NE10 Libero of the Week for the fifth time this season earlier this week, is atop the NE10 in digs per set (5.70) and total digs (473)…Kubik, second among the league leaders with 811 total assists, ranks third on the Saint Rose career assist chart with 2,569 career assists.
