SAINT ROSE DROPS A PAIR IN HEARTBREAKING FASHION TO LE MOYNE

ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose came up short in heartbreaking fashion as visiting Le Moyne took the finale of today's Northeast-10 Conference twin-bill 1-0 in 12 innings by pushing across the winning run on a bases loaded hit batsman. Le Moyne (18-8/6-1 NE10) also took the opener 4-0.

The Golden Knights (1-18/0-6 NE10) previously put the potential winning run in scoring position with less than two outs in both the ninth and tenth, but were thwarted in each attempt. Thus, three outstanding pitching efforts went for naught.

Senior left-hander Michael Pastore allowed only a pair of hits and fanned 14 throughout 7.0 innings of work, before handing the ball to junior right-hander Caleb Gregg who did not allow a hit in 1.2 innings on the bump. Senior southpaw Joe Pokrentowski then surrendered just a pair of hits and whiffed six during the final 3.1 innings.

Senior third baseman Alex Chandler and junior center fielder Matt McKinnon both went 2-for-4 to lead the Saint Rose offense.

For Le Moyne, right-hander Sean Pisik, a graduate student, scattered five hits and struck out 11 throughout 9.0 innings of a no-decision outing.

In the opener, senior catcher Gabe Levanti doubled to the right-center field gap in the fourth to put the Dolphins up 2-0. Le Moyne then strung together a pair of hits and took advantage of an error to add two more in the fifth.

Senior right-hander Damian Powers scattered seven hits over 8.0 innings to grab the win.

Meanwhile, Saint Rose junior right-hander Dominic Razzano fanned eighth throughout 5.2 innings of work. Also, junior right-hander Alex Tomlinson allowed only one hit during the final 3.1 frames. Freshman right fielder Ernie Geraci finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Looking ahead, both teams are schedule to play conference crossover doubleheaders on the road tomorrow. The Golden Knights are set to visit Bentley in Waltham, MA while the Dolphins are slated to face Stonehill in North Easton, MA.
