TRIO HONORED ON SENIOR DAY

Golden Knights Fall 9-7 to Southern Connecticut

ALBANY, N.Y. – The College of Saint Rose senior infielders Kayla Bancroft and Carly Wood and right-hander Renee Vaiano were honored in Senior Day festivities before this afternoon's season finale vs. Southern Connecticut. The Golden Knights' comeback fell short in a 9-7 Northeast-10 Conference defeat.

The Owls (8-27/5-17 NE10) began the scoring with a pair of unearned runs in the first.  Southern Connecticut then manufactured a run in the third.

Senior Carissa Wasikowski gave the Owls a 5-0 lead in the fourth when she hit a pinch-hit two-run home run to center.

The Golden Knights (11-24/9-11 NE10) got on the board in their half on a three-run homer by junior infielder Jadyn Costello.

SCSU then batted around in a game-breaking four-run fifth.

Saint Rose pushed across a run in the sixth. Sophomore right-hander Roma Mazzariello led off with a doubled and came around to score on a pair of ground outs.

The Golden Knights scored three unearned runs in its seventh-inning comeback attempt.  After sophomore infielder Beth Jones, crossed home on an Owls' error, Wood had a RBI triple.  Mazzariello then followed with a single through the left side to plate Wood.
