ALBANY, N.Y. - The College of Saint Rose suffered its first home defeat of the season with today's 68-60 non-league loss to Daemen at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights also had their three game win streak snapped after shooting 34.9 percent (22-for-63) from the floor and being outrebounded 34-25 off the defensive glass.

Senior forward
Julian Lipinski recorded his third "double-double" of the year with 18 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to pace Saint Rose (9-4), which was playing its first game within a 12-day span. Senior guard
Mical-Ryan Boyd finished with 16 points while junior guard
Shane Herrity, freshman guard
Adam Anderson, and senior forward
Jack Jones contributed eight apiece.
Â
Freshman center Andrew Sischo recorded 22 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Jay Sirkis tossed in 19 points, behind 8-for-11 shooting, to pace the Wildcats (6-6).
Â
Daemen led for all but seven minutes although the Golden Knights were within striking distance throughout the afternoon. Saint Rose took its first lead since the opening five minutes with a 9-1 run that Lipinski capped by finishing a nice feed from Anderson with 12:22 remaining in the ballgame.
Â
However, Daemen responded with a 9-0 spurt to go up eight, 51-43, with 8:36 to go. The Golden Knights got to within four a minute later when Lipinski tipped-in a Jones missed 3-pointer, but the Wildcats put themselves in the driver's seat behind an 11-4 jaunt that sophomore guard Breon Harris finished off with a trey to make it a 64-53 contest with 3:05 left to play.
Â
The Golden Knights could not get any closer than within six the rest of the way.
Â
Looking ahead, Saint Rose returns to
Northeast-10 Conference action Wednesday when Saint Michael's arrives in the Capital Region. The second half of the league twin-bill is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 pm. Meanwhile, Daemen travels to West Virginia Wednesday to take on Salem International at 2:00 pm.
