NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The College of Saint Rose fell 66-47 at Southern Connecticut State in its
Northeast-10 Conference opener tonight.

Leah Dollard paced the Golden Knights (2-1/0-1 NE10) with 10 points and eight rebounds apiece.
Sophomore forward Kiana Steinauer recorded a "double-double" of 13 points and 14 rebounds to pace the host Owls (1-2/1-0 NE10). Senior guard Africa Williams tossed in 15 points to lead all players in the scoring column.

Southern Connecticut State soared out to a 7-2 first quarter lead. After Saint Rose battled back in the middle portion of the period, the Owls went on a 7-3 run throughout the final 3:02 to hold a 19-10 lead after the opening quarter and then went into the locker room up 28-21 at halftime.

They eventually opened up a 14-point advantage by scoring 11 of the first 16 second half points.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights play their home opener Saturday versus league rival American International. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 pm. Meanwhile, Southern Connecticut State travels to Le Moyne Saturday for a 12:00 pm conference meeting in Syracuse.
