ALBANY–The College of Saint Rose scored three runs in the sixth to break open a 3-2 game on the way to today's 6-2 victory against Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division rival Le Moyne. In the process, the Golden Knights (18-15/12-6 NE-10) gained a point in the baseball edition of the year-long Upstate Challenge rivalry series with the Dolphins.

Junior shortstop Tyler Ungerland and senior left fielder Nick Venier continued their superlative campaigns to spearhead the Saint Rose attack. Ungerland finished 3-for-4 with two RBI while Venier wound up 2-for-4 with a walk and a pair of runs scored.

On the mound, senior right-hander Phillip Zdanowski allowed two runs on six hits throughout 6.0 innings of work to improve to 3-2 on the year. Also, senior right-hander Carmine Vricciariello faced the minimum while tossing 2.0 innings of no-hit ball out of the bullpen. Junior southpaw Joe Pokrentowski then worked around a pair of infield singles in the ninth.

Saint Rose scored on an error to go up 1-0 in the first and Ungerland singled through the right side to bring across senior center fielder Derek Reed in the second. Le Moyne (24-15/12-7 NE-10) then tied it with a run in the fourth and another in the fifth.

The Golden Knights answered immediately in the home half when junior third baseman Alex Chandler doubled and sophomore designated hitter Alec Caprarella drew a bases loaded walk to put Saint Rose ahead to stay. Ungerland and junior catcher Joe DeLuca provided most of the damage in the sixth with RBI doubles.

Senior catcher Trey West finished 3-for-4 to lead the Dolphins who had their four-game win streak snapped.

Prior to today's game, pitchers John Hooker, Coby Schwartz, and Zdanowski, along with Reed and Venier, and catcher Patrick Griffin; were honored during a brief ceremony as part of Senior Day festivities. Ungerland and Pokrentowski, who were part of the same recruiting class, were also recognized for their contributions to the program.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose is scheduled to make-up Sunday's rainout versus Adelphi on Thursday at 4:30 pm. Meanwhile, Le Moyne is set to close out its regular-season docket with a three game weekend series at Southern Connecticut State in New Haven.

Notes: Ungerland and Venier have hit in 12 and nine consecutive games respectively. Ungerland has batted at a .533 (24-for-45) clip during that span to raise his league leading average to .452 (52-for-115) on the year. Venier has reached base in 23 straight contests and is fifth in the NE-10 with a .369 (38-for-103) average. Vricciariello has allowed only one earned run and has fanned 19 throughout his last 11 appearances that cover 16.0 innings on the bump. The Golden Knights have gone 18-7 since opening the year 0-8 and are 11-1 when leading after seven innings.
