GOLDEN KNIGHTS ARE ALIVE!!!

SAINT ROSE UPENDS TOP-RANKED FRANKLIN PIERCE TO ADVANCE IN NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

RINDGE, NH–The College of Saint Rose responded in dramatic fashion to today's previous setback to fourth-ranked Southern New Hampshire by upending host and top-ranked Franklin Pierce 6-4 tonight to keep its hopes alive in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

The Golden Knights (20-19) will now face either Pace University (30-20) or the Penmen (43-5) in an out bracket game tomorrow at approximately 1:00 pm.

Junior catcher Joe DeLuca went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the eighth to lead the Golden Knights offense. Also, junior third baseman Alex Chandler finished 3-for-4 while senior southpaw Joe Pokrentowski did not allow an earned run throughout 2.1 innings out of the bullpen.

Saint Rose took a 2-1 lead in the fourth and rallied from a 3-2 deficit by pushing across four runs in the eighth to go ahead 6-3. The Ravens (45-6) added one in the home half of the eighth, but Pokrentowski worked out of a bases loaded, no out jam by recording a strikeout and inducing a double play. He then put Franklin Pierce down in order in the ninth to put the finishing touches on a dramatic victory.

DeLuca came through in the fourth with a two-run double to the gap in left center and was at the crux of things again in the eighth after the Golden Knights took a 4-3 lead on a wild pitch and a throwing error. DeLuca capped the rally by lining a shot over the left field fence for his second round–tripper of the year.

For the Ravens, senior leftfielder Kurtis White went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI base hit in the eighth.
