2015-16 CAMPAIGN COMES TO A CLOSE FOR YOUNG GOLDEN KNIGHTS SQUAD

MANCHESTER, NH-The College of Saint Rose had its 2015-16 campaign come to a close with today's 102-90 Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinal setback at Saint Anselm. The host Hawks (21-6) will now host crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire in a semifinal date Wednesday evening. The Penmen advanced with today's 107-104 overtime triumph at Southern Connecticut State.

Saint Anselm shot 60.0 percent (15-for-25) from the arc this afternoon, including 80.0 percent (8-for-10) in the first half, and outscored the Golden Knights 39-26 in the paint to improve to 13-1 at home.

Junior forward Tyler Sayre ascended the 30-point plateau for the third time in the last five games by tossing in 31 to lead the Golden Knights (13-14). Sophomore guard Mical-Ryan Boyd scored 23 points while fellow sophomore guard Jamaal Greenwood finished with a season-high 16.

Saint Anselm made six of its first seven shots to open up a seven point, 16-9, lead four minutes in and then put itself in control behind a 17-6 run that transformed a nine point, 26-17, advantage into a 20 point, 43-23, cushion with 6:43 left. The Golden Knights then scored eight of the period's final 11 points to get to within 13, 55-41, at intermission.

However, the Hawks got off to another quick start with a 9-2 jaunt to open the second half that put themselves up 21, 64-43, at the 16:46 juncture. It remained a double-digit ballgame the rest of the way.

Freshman guard Tim Guers and junior forward Harrison Taggert led five Hawks players in double-figures scoring with 22 and 18 points respectively.

Notes: Guard Max Weaver is the lone senior on this year's active roster. Today marked the Golden Knights 15th NE-10 Championship appearance throughout their 16-year league tenure. The lone exception was 2011-12. Saint Rose has made six semifinal appearances (2003, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2008, and 2013) and advanced to the 2007 championship game that Bentley won 71-61.
