ALBANY–Merrimack rattled off four consecutive points to put the final touches on today's 3-1 (25-13, 14-25, 25-23, 25-22) Northeast-10 Conference victory against The College of Saint Rose inside the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

The two teams split the opening two sets with each side winning in convincing convention. The Golden Knights (10-14/5-7 NE-10) then rebounded from a 22-19 deficit in the third to get to within one at 23-22 and 24-23. However, Merrimack junior outside hitter Mary Kate McCarroll put away a feed from senior setter Tara Stuhr to afford the Warriors a 2-1 advantage.

In the fourth, Saint Rose appeared to be in the catbird seat with a 22-21 lead, but Merrimack (5-23/3-10 NE-10) recorded a pair of kills and took advantage of Saint Rose ball handling and attack errors to close out the match.

Senior middle hitter Maryellen Devic led the Golden Knights with 15 kills and nine digs while senior setter Erica Ziskin finished with 15 assists and 11 digs. Also, senior middle hitter Jennifer Gundrum recorded seven kills, with a mere two attack errors, and six blocks Sophomore setter Sam Kubik added 17 assists while senior libero Samantha Atchinson contributed 11 digs.

For the Warriors, Stuhr handed out 42 assists, including the 4000th of her career, while freshman middle hitter Catherine Flaherty and McCarroll put away 13 and 10 kills respectively.

Looking ahead, both teams conclude their regular-season slates next weekend. Saint Rose swings through New Hampshire and Vermont with road meetings at Saint Anselm and Saint Michael's on Friday and Saturday respectively. Meanwhile, Merrimack is back home Saturday for a 1:00 pm date with Assumption.
Notes: Gundrum, Devic, Ziskin, Atchinson and outside hitter Rachel Salasky were honored during a brief pre-match ceremony as part of Senior Day festivities…The Golden Knights dropped just their fourth match of 12 home dates this fall.
