GOLDEN KNIGHTS CONCLUDE SEASON WITH FIVE SET VICTORY AT SAINT MICHAEL’S

Devic Records 16 Kills and 21 Digs To Lead Saint Rose

COLCHESTER, VT–The College of Saint Rose wrapped up its 2016 campaign on a bright note with today's 3-2 (25-21, 24-26, 25-17, 20-25, 15-12) triumph at Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's that took two hours and 22 minutes to complete.

"It is always good to be able to end a tough season on a high note, especially when you're graduating five seniors. That group has meant a lot to this program and has raised the standard for future Saint Rose women's volleyball teams," said head coach Vanessa Volpe-Rivera.

The Golden Knights came out on top in the first and third sets after rallying from two down to tie the second set, before the Purple Knights (3-16/1-13 NE-10) prevailed 26-24. Saint Michael's then opened up an 18-10 lead en route to a 25-20 win in the fourth.

The fifth was deadlocked four times throughout the opening 10 points, but senior middle hitter Jennifer Gundrum converted an assist from senior setter Erica Ziskin that put Saint Rose (11-15/6-8 NE-10) in control 13-10. Senior middle hitter Maryellen Devic then put away a pair of kills to secure the victory.

Devic finished with 16 kills and 21 digs, while Ziskin and sophomore setter Sam Kubik handed out 28 and 19 assists respectively to lead the Saint Rose offense.

Senior libero Samantha Atchinson came up with 25 digs in the back, while Gundrum and freshman outside hitter Stevie Schweitzer put away nine kills apiece. Additionally, junior middle hitter Maddy Halverson contributed seven kills and six blocks.

For the Purple Knights (3-16/1-13 NE-10), junior outside hitter Megan Priester and freshman outside hitter Jordan Dean put away 26 kills collectively.
