SAINT ROSE FALLS TO ASSUMPTION

WINTER PARK, FL–A day after defeating Assumption 11-3, The College of Saint Rose dropped a 7-2 decision to the Greyhounds at the Rollins College Baseball Week.
 
Senior first baseman Zac Bellinger went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI to lead the Golden Knights (1-5). Junior left fielder Nick Venier, sophomore shortstop Tyler Ungerland and senior second baseman Ryan Hooker each had one hit.
 
The Greyhounds (1-6) got out to a fast start. They scored once in both of the first two innings, before Bellinger drove home Venier, who reached on a lead off infield base hit, to make it a 2-1 ballgame in the fourth. However, Assumption pushed across two more runs in the fifth, another in the sixth and an additional pair in the ninth. Saint Rose got its second run in the eighth when Venier reached on a two-out error and came around when Bellinger lined a double to the right-center field gap.
 
Sophomore right fielder Ben O'Donnell finished 4-for-5 to lead the Greyhounds (1-6) attack, while sophomore right-hander Matt Murphy surrendered a run on four hits and fanned 10 throughout 7.0 innings of work to chalk up the victory.
 
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are scheduled to face host Rollins tomorrow at noon in a make-up from Saturday. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds have a 6:00 pm meeting tomorrow with Concordia at Florida Tech in Melbourne.
