SAINT ROSE DROPS RAIN-SHORTENED OPENER AT ROLLINS BASEBALL WEEK

ROLLINS GAME POSTPONED UNTIL TUESDAY AT 1:00 PM

WINTER PARK, FL–Concordia pushed across four runs in the fourth and two more on an infield error in the fifth to upend The College of Saint Rose 6-2 in a rain-shortened opener at the 67th Annual Rollins College Baseball Week this afternoon.
 
Junior designated hitter Patrick Griffin went 2-for-3 with an RBI base hit in the fourth that scored junior center fielder Derek Reed, who belted a leadoff double one batter earlier. Also, senior first baseman Zac Bellinger and senior catcher Lukas Nethaway ripped back-to-back two-base hits an inning earlier to account for the other Saint Rose (0-4) run.
 
For the Clippers (1-0), junior catcher Brian Bilello went 2-for-3 with a three-run triple that resulted in most of the fourth inning damage.
 
Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to play tomorrow. The Golden Knights have a 6:00 pm game versus Assumption, while Concordia has an 11:00 am date with Saint Anselm.
