GOLDEN KNIGHTS SUFFER 1-0 OVERTIME SETBACK AT #7 SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE

NEW HAVEN, CT–The College of Saint Rose threw a scare at Southern Connecticut State before the host seventh-ranked Owls tallied the game's lone goal three minutes into overtime in Northeast-10 Conference action tonight.
 
Senior back Daniel Ruiz provided the game-winner to thwart the Golden Knights upset bid. Ruiz took a dribble and then buried his shot from 10-yards-out inside the lower right post to allow Southern Connecticut State (5-0/3-0 NE-10) to remain unbeaten.
 
Junior keeper Colan Balkwell recorded five of his season-high six saves in the first half to keep Saint Rose (1-4-1/1-2-1 NE-10), which was outshot 9-2 during that span, very much in the match. At the other end, freshman Noah Veronier came up with three saves on the evening for an Owls squad that had outscored their four opponents 11-4 entering this evening.
 
Overall, the Golden Knights generated three corner kicks and yielded a pair. However, Southern Connecticut State manufactured a 17-7 shot differential.
 
Sophomore midfielder Nick Menozzi, junior forward Nick Iuorno, freshman forward Kledis Capollari, and junior midfielder Marco Pavlin each produced a shot-on-goal for Saint Rose.
 
Looking ahead, both teams have home conference matches Saturday. The Golden Knights will host Stonehill at 1:00 pm in a game that may be seen on www.gogoldenknights.tv. Meanwhile, the Owls have a 6:00 pm date with Merrimack.
