GOLDEN KNIGHTS SUFFER 2-1 SETBACK TO FRANKLIN PIERCE

ALBANY–Franklin Pierce scored once in each half to hand The College of Saint Rose a 2-1 setback in Northeast-10 Conference action today at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The game featured plenty of scoring opportunities as the squads engineered 16 shots collectively.
 
Sophomore forward Tyler Casavant tallied his first strike of the season, while junior keeper Colan Balkwell recorded a workmanlike nine saves for the Golden Knights (1-9-1/1-6-0 NE-10).
 
Junior forward Marius Preber and senior midfielder Bruno Fati accounted for the two Ravens (6-4-1/4-3-1 NE-10) strikes.
 
Preber made it 1-0 at the 19:10 juncture when senior midfielder David Magee slipped him a through pass that he buried to the lower right side. Eighteen minutes later, Casavant drove home a rebound off an original shot by junior midfielder Massimo Smiroldo that Franklin Pierce freshman keeper Jordan LeGuyader could not hang to.
 
However, Fati tallied the game-winner when he lined a free kick from the left flank into the far corner with 65:38 elapsed.
 
Looking ahead, both squads have 7:00 pm home matches this Tuesday. The Golden Knights will entertain Assumption in a match that may be seen on www.gogoldenknights.tv, while the Ravens will meet Saint Anselm.
