Sam Acevedo enters his fourth season with the Golden Knights track and field program as an assistant coach, taking the reigns as the pole vault coach for both the men’s and women’s teams.
Prior to arriving at Saint Rose, Acevedo was on the track and field team at nearby Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 2006-09 where he participated in the pole vault for both the indoor and outdoor programs. During the 2008 indoor season, he placed second at the Liberty League Championship behind a performance of 4.21-meters. Acevedo previously posted a 3.95m outing at the 2007 league championship.
Acevedo’s previous coaching experience includes a stint as a volunteer with the “Raise the Bar” pole vault clinic in the summer of 2012.
Graduating in 2009 from RPI with a degree in mechanical engineering, Acevedo currently works as a Quality Manager for Innovative Test Solutions.
