ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose registered a 77-67 home victory tonight against Southern New Hampshire.
Five different Golden Knights finished in double-figures in the win. Junior guard
Tristian Jeffries netted a game-leading 17 points, while
Trey Boyd III finished with 15 points off the bench in the win.
Freshman guard
Dante Weise filled the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Freshman guard
Christian Pierre-Louis recorded 11 points and six rebounds and junior forward
Ata Turgut logged 10 points and four boards. Junior forward
Nuha Sagnia was a force defensively with four blocks and eight rebounds.
The Golden Knights establish a 10-point lead in the late stages of the first half before Southern New Hampshire staged a run of their own folliwng the halftime break. After playing from behind throughout much of the first half, an 18-5 run by SNHU in the middle of the second frame allowed the Penmen to jump ahead by five with 8:03 left.
Trailing as crunch time approached, Weise and freshman guard
Trey Boyd III would to score nine of the next 14 points as Saint Rose charged back into the lead for the final time at the five-minute mark. The Golden Knights were able to seal the win after limiting SNHU to only two field goals and five points across the final 5:03 of play.
Looking forward, Saint Rose is back in action with a 3:30 pm matchup at New Haven on Saturday. Southern New Hampshire returns on Saturday afternoon as well at Assumption.
