GOLDEN KNIGHTS CONCLUDE FLORIDA TRIP WITH PAIR OF LOSSES

Phillips gets four hits, while Liverio and Chandler blast homers

JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla.  – The College of Saint Rose concluded its Florida trip with a pair of losses at THE Spring Games. The Golden Knights (2-10) fell 8-4 to Concordia-St. Paul and 6-4 to Mercyhurst.

Freshman outfielder Ciana Phillips went 4-for-6 to lead Saint Rose in the setbacks. Freshman infielder/outfielder Madison Chandler, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, finished 3-for-6 with two runs scored and a homer, while junior infielder Savanna Liverio drove in three.

Concordia St. Paul (9-7) got started early, scoring four runs in the top of the first and two in the second. After Liverio got the Black and Gold on the board with a second inning solo home run, Saint Rose took advantage of a Golden Bear error to score three runs in its last at-bat.

Phillips went 3-for-4, while junior shortstop Ryane Brush and Chandler each had two hits.

Down 2-0 on a first inning homer by Mercyhurst sophomore infielder Kaitlin Hoffner, the Golden Knights rallied for three runs in the third inning. Senior designated player Shannon Moore, who was named the NE10 Player of the Week on Monday, and freshman catcher Emmie Gilmore each had run-scoring singles in the frame.

Mercyhurst (6-8) tallied three runs in the fourth to regain the lead. The teams traded solo homers in the fifth for the final margin. Chandler had the one for Saint Rose.

The Golden Knights are off until Saturday, March 21 when they open NE10 play at Stonehill in Easton, Mass. The doubleheader is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
Notes: Liverio leads the NE10 with five home runs…She sits second in the conference with 11 runs batted in and an .824 slugging percentage…Moore tops Saint Rose in hitting at .394 (13-for-33).
