WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEBUTS IN NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE ACTION

Golden Knights strike four times in the second half of setback at American International


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The College of Saint Rose women's lacrosse team played in the program's first-ever Northeast-10 Conference game tonight, falling 18-6 at American International.

Freshmen attacker Alexis Farr netted three goals to lead the Golden Knights (1-2/0-1 NE10). Fellow freshmen attacker Claudia Agostino also added a goal up front.

Freshmen midfielders Deanna Ciliento and Ashley Burns registered one goal each, with Burns also contributing an assist to the Saint Rose offense. Freshman attacker Emilie Robbins provided an assist as well.

With seven goals each on the season, Farr and Ciliento are currently tied for 14th in the NE10 in goals scored.

Ciliento recorded the game's first goal less than 90 seconds after the opening whistle, but the Yellow Jackets (1-1/1-1 NE10) netted 13 of the next 14 scores to take a 13-2 lead going into halftime. The young Saint Rose team showed its resiliency by tallying four of its six goals in the second half.

American International out-shot the Golden Knights 41-12. Freshman goalie Madeline Yeung saved 13 shots between the pipes for Saint Rose.

Moving forward, the Golden Knights return to action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Pace University. The opening draw is set for 1:00 pm in Pleasantville. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets host Post in a non-league encounter Saturday at 1:00 pm as well.
