#9 SAINT ROSE ENTERTAINS STONEHILL TODAY AT SULLIVAN FIELD

#9 Saint Rose returns to its Northeast-10 Conference schedule today at 2:30 pm
ALBANY - The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team returns to Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon when the Golden Knights (9-0-1/6-0-1 NE-10) host Stonehill College (7-2-1/5-1-1 NE-10) at 2:30 pm at Sullivan Field. Saint Rose has chalked up five shutouts in a row, including an 8-0 triumph versus Mercy College on Tuesday.

LAST MEETING (October 2, 2010)
Saint Rose scored three times in the first period to secure a 3-1 victory at Stonehill College last October 2. Amanda Deck had a hand in setting up three different teammates to lead the Golden Knights attack. Senior forward Gianna D'Errico scored on an assist from both Deck and her twin sister Nicola D'Errico, to make it a 1-0 affair just nine minutes in. Senior midfielder Christina Cuffari tallied what stood up as the game-winner in the 19th minute, before sophomore forward Carmelina Puopolo scored the third Saint Rose marker in the 38th. Stonehill eventually got on the scoreboard when senior midfielder Kelsey Mahoney found the back of the net midway through the second half. 

SCOUTING #9 SAINT ROSE (9-0-1/6-0-1 NE-10)
The Golden Knights are ranked #9 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Poll for the third straight week. Cuffari dished out her school record 30th assist in Tuesday's 8-0 win versus Mercy. Saint Rose continues to put up impressive numbers both offensively and defensively. The Golden Knights possess the top-four point producers in the conference, are averaging a league-best 4.70 goals per-game and have chalked up five straight shutouts. They are furthermore second in the country (Division II) in goals.

Freshman forward Brittany Barry leads a balanced attack that has seen 16 players find the scoring column. Barry, Puopolo and sophomore midfielder Sydney Bond are 1-2-3 in the NE-10 in goals and points. Barry leads the league behind 12 goals and 26 points, Puopolo has nine strikes and 22 points, while Bond has chalked up six markers and 15 points.

Sophomore keeper Jessica Gerski anchors a defense that has not yielded a goal in 450:23 with a 0.41 goals-against-average to go along with 24 saves throughout 10 starts.

SCOUTING STONEHILL (7-2-1/5-1-1 NE-10)
The Skyhawks are playing their second top-10 opponent in as many games after falling 1-0 at top-ranked University of Bridgeport on Wednesday. Stonehill had its six-match unbeaten streak come to a halt in the process. The Skyhawks are tied with Saint Rose for second in the conference behind a team 0.29 GAA. Each squad has allowed just three goals all year.

Senior forward Alexandra Murphy and Mahoney represent the top scoring threats. Murphy has four goals and two assists for 10 points, while Mahoney has three markers and a like number of assists for nine points.

Senior keeper Sarah Hickey and sophomorre netminder Amy Wheaton have virtually split time in goal. Wheaton ranks third in the league behind a 0.17 GAA, while Hickey is fifth with a 0.44 GAA.

Up Next: Saint Rose has a week off before welcoming Saint Anselm College to Albany for a noon start on 'Senior Day' next Saturday. Stonehill returns home to host Bentley University at 4:00 pm Tuesday.
