SOUTH EASTON, MA – The College of Saint Rose is represented by three student-athletes on two Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference teams in recognition of outstanding athletic and academic achievement from this past spring season. The teams were voted on by a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR) within the league.

Ashley Anderson was named to the NE-10 softball Academic All-Conference team, while seniors
Kevin Jackson and
Tyler Gantz represent Saint Rose on the men’s outdoor track and field Academic All-Conference team. The trio are among a small group of 85 student-athletes that were similarly honored from the league’s 16 schools.
Anderson, who was named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine District I Academic All-America® Softball Team in May, carried a 3.63 overall grade-point-average (4.00 scale) as an undergraduate in childhood education and earned a 4.00 as a graduate student in special education at the College. She batted a team-leading .344 (45-for-131) with 27 RBI, 18 runs scored and seven home runs this spring. She put forth one of the most dominating performances in school annals when she hit two grand slams and added a solo home run during an 11-8 victory at Stonehill College on May 1. She also strung together a team-best 11 game hit streak earlier in the year.
Jackson was chosen to the All-Academic Team during the winter and wound up with a 3.51 GPA in business administration. He took second in the 110-meter hurdles at the NE-10 Championships with a school record 15.04 clocking, thus garnering second-team All-Conference accolades. Jackson also owns school marks in the triple jump (13.34m) and the 4x100 relay (42.52). He furthermore contributed seven, top-two performances throughout the outdoor campaign.
Gantz added to his growing list of academic honors with another selection on the All-Academic Team. His latest award comes on the heels of being chosen to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for cross country this fall and earning NE-10 All-Academic honors during the winter. Gantz was a first-team All-Conference performer after establishing both meet and school records in the 800m with a time of 1:53.08 at the Conference Championships in May. The former walk-on who also works in the Saint Rose I.T. department, he furthermore led the 4x800 relay squad to a first place effort behind a school record time of 7:47.37.
In order to be nominated as an NE-10 All-Academic candidate, a student-athlete must have participated in at least half of the team’s competitions and be a starter or significant contributor. He/she must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (4.00 scale) and must have completed at least one full academic year at her/his school.
